Miss Indiana Katie Stam Wins Miss America 2009
Miss Indiana Katie Stam has won the 2009 edition of miss America. A student at the University of Indianapolis, she is setting her sights on a BA in Communication with the hopes to become a journalist. She sang the song “Via Dolorosa” as part of her performance to win the judges over. New Miss America 2009 Katie Stam also won a $50 000 dollars scholarship to pursue her studies. Good going girl!
Miss Georgia Chasity Hardman was the first runner-up and Miss Iowa Olivia Myers was second runner-up.
As you know, the Miss America organization is not just about beauty but is also a philantropic organisation, providing scholarships to young women across the Nation. Last year, it raised more than $45 million to that effect. The contest this year was pretty interesting with some more challenging questions than usual and the girls appeared to be more curvy than in the previous editions, a good trend in my opinion. Congrats to Miss Indiana Katie Stam, or should I say Miss America Katie Stam for her victory.
